City Street Sweeping

Street sweeping is a vital service that removes debris and litter to enhance aesthetics, safety, and public and environmental health. Clean streets mean safer streets - for bicyclists, pedestrians, cars and our environment!

Street Sweeping Schedule (Maps)

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

• Streets are usually cleaned on the day after your garbage and recycling pick-up service. 
• If your pickup day is Monday, your street may be cleaned the next day, on Tuesday.
• We try to get to every residential street every other week.
• These schedules often vary due to work-load and weather.

Did you know that debris left on city streets will eventually find its way to the ocean? That means that cigarette butts, heavy metals, motor oil, fertilizers and other chemicals can be washed down storm drains when it rains.

What You Can Do

You can keep City streets clean!  Rake up leaves and trimmings and place them in your cart. By trimming all bushes and trees that are over or close to the street and gutter you will keep sidewalks and streets clean and accessible. Street sweepers require at least 16 feet of clearance above the gutter and at least a foot back into the sidewalk to avoid damaging the street sweeping equipment.

• Please have vehicles and obstructions like basketball hoops off of the street the day after your garbage pick-up.
• Take your trash and recycling carts off of the street after they have been serviced.
• Adopt a storm drain and pick up litter near your home.

What We Do

City crews clean most streets twice a month. Higher traffic areas and bike paths are cleaned more often.
