If the Utility Bill is in your name, you are eligible to have up to four bulky items collected at one time or 1 item up to 4 times a year. Call Customer Service at 420-5220 or email them at scmu@cityofsantacruz.com to schedule collection.

If you are a renter- and the Utility Bill is not in your name, Bulky Item Collection is still available to you for a fee. Complete this form

Note: Items left curbside without a scheduled confirmation will not be collected.  If you have used up your "Extra Service" opportunities, the regular bulky item fee will be charged to your municipal utility account.

Accepted Items for Bulky Item Curbside Collection

  • Household Furniture under 100 pounds
  • Kitchen Appliances
  • Residential washer/dryer
  • Residential refrigerator
  • Residential Stove
  • Bathroom fixtures under 100 pounds
  • Extra Trash- One bag counts as one bulky item.

Items Not Accepted for Bulky Item Collection

  • Oversized items or items heavier than 100 pounds
    • Pianos
    • Tree Trunks
    • Tires
    • Cast Iron Tubs
  • Hazardous Waste
    • Paints
    • Pesticides
    • Chemicals
    • Cleaning agents
    • Commercial appliances.

Note:  Effective January 1st, 2022,  we no longer send out physical extra service tags in the mail. Each account holder (single family residential service)remains eligible for 4 extra service pickups at no charge. Use the service opportunity to dispose of one bag of trash, a bulky item or an appliance.

Deliver Appliances and Bulky Items to the Resource Recovery Facility on Dimeo Lane

Appliances or bulky items may still dropped off  at the Resource Recovery Facility for a fee.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling- Mattress and Box Springs are accepted for recycling at the Resource Recovery Facility at no cost to residential customers. Limit 5 items per visit. It's important and easy to keep mattresses and box springs out of the landfill and environment. Disposing of these items responsibly, reduces the blight caused by illegally dumping a mattress or box spring on a street corner or open space.
